Gen.G have beaten LYON 3–0 in the Worlds 2026 quarterfinals and will face Invictus Gaming in the semifinals. Riot’s official knockout bracket confirms both the sweep and the next pairing, ending LYON’s run in the last eight.
The result gives Gen.G another series win over LYON at this tournament. Their Swiss meeting finished 2–1 to Gen.G; the best-of-five quarterfinal ended without LYON taking a game.
Two meetings, different margins
Gen.G reached the knockout stage with a 3–0 Swiss record, beating Invictus Gaming and Hanwha Life Esports in best-of-one matches before the 2–1 qualification series against LYON.
LYON had started Swiss with wins over Team Secret Whales and Karmine Corp. Defeats to Gen.G and IG took them to a deciding round, where they beat LOS 2–1 to qualify at 3–2. That route earned them a quarterfinal place, but the knockout format offered no recovery round after Wednesday’s defeat.
The distinction between records matters here: Gen.G’s 3–0 Swiss record counts series, while their 3–0 quarterfinal score counts games. They dropped one game to LYON in Swiss before sweeping the rematch.
IG stand between Gen.G and the final
Invictus Gaming secured their semifinal place by beating Top Esports 3–1. Their meeting with Gen.G will repeat the opening Swiss pairing, which Gen.G won 1–0—this time over a best-of-five series.
The semifinal stage runs on November 7–8 in Allen, Texas, with play beginning at 16:00 CST (22:00 UTC; 23:00 CET in Stockholm) on each day. The other half of the quarterfinal bracket contains Dplus KIA against Bilibili Gaming and T1 against Karmine Corp.
The championship is still ongoing. Its final is scheduled for November 14 in Brooklyn, starting at 14:00 EST (19:00 UTC; 20:00 CET).
