Aurelion Sol’s 26.22 buff rewards ranks in Singularity—not a one-point E

Riot wants E-second to be a stronger choice. Rank one is unchanged, while rank five gains 20 base damage and 20 percentage points of AP scaling over five seconds.

Aurelion Sol’s Singularity gets stronger with additional skill points in League of Legends patch 26.22, while its rank-one damage stays unchanged. Riot is targeting the choice to level E second, rather than increasing the damage of a single early point in the spell.

In its November 3 patch notes, Riot says most Aurelion Sol players prefer ranking Singularity (E) second over Astral Flight (W) even though E has been the weaker second-max option. The buff is intended to make that popular choice more rewarding.

The change grows with each rank

Riot lists Singularity’s total magic damage over five seconds as:

  • Previously: 50/75/100/125/150, plus 60% AP at every rank.
  • In 26.22: 50/80/110/140/170, plus 60/65/70/75/80% AP.

The five values correspond to E’s five ranks. Rank one remains 50 plus 60% AP. Each additional rank adds more damage than it did before, through both the base value and the ability-power ratio.

At rank five, the increase is 20 base damage plus 20% of Aurelion Sol’s AP over the full five seconds. At 200 AP, for example, the listed total rises from 270 to 330 magic damage before mitigation.

Five-second damage is not an instant hit

The patch’s figures describe damage accumulated over five seconds. They should not be read as a new burst of 330 damage on cast: a target must remain exposed to the spell’s damage for the full duration to take that listed total, before mitigation.

The unchanged first rank also matters when reading the buff. Leaving E at one point does not gain the larger AP ratio; the additional scaling comes from investing further skill points. Riot’s stated aim is to improve the E-second route, not to establish that it is now the best choice in every matchup.
