Corrode’s defender rotations were taking too long, and Riot has shortened the routes back into both sites. The map changes in VALORANT patch 13.08, released on 13 October 2026, also reshape Mid and reduce the effectiveness of playing A post-plants from A Link.
Corrode returned to the Competitive and Deathmatch map pools alongside Bind in that patch, while Ascent and Split left those queues. For players returning to the map, the old routes and cover are not quite the same.
Shorter paths back to A and B
Riot’s patch notes identify defender rotation time as the problem: defenders were struggling to get back into the action for a retake. The update adjusts the paths from Defender Spawn into the back of both A Site and B Site, aiming to make those rotations faster and safer.
That is a route change, not a promise that every retake is now easy. Riot does not publish a fixed number of seconds saved. Its before-and-after images are the useful reference for checking the entrances before relying on an old route.
Mid gives attackers a different route toward A Link
Previously, attackers funnelled through one choke into Lower Mid while defenders could slow them by spamming the half wall. Riot made three connected changes:
- The Mid half wall is now metal and has moved out one metre. Riot says this reduces wall spam and lets attackers move into A Link without being seen from Top Mid.
- The boxes at the back of Lower Mid moved toward B, with a new jump-up.
- The Lower Mid wall was raised so players cannot peek over it from those relocated boxes.
Read the last two changes together. The new jump-up does not mean the old over-wall peek survives: the raised wall specifically removes that sightline from the moved boxes. Likewise, Riot describes reduced wall spam, not a blanket guarantee that the entire area is bulletproof.
Getting to A Link and holding a post-plant are different questions
The Mid change gives attackers more room to work toward A Link. Separately, Riot adjusted A Site’s plant zone to make playing post-plant from A Link less effective.
Those changes pull on different parts of the round. Reaching the link with less exposure from Top Mid does not make it an equally strong place to defend every Spike plant. A returning player should check both the revised route and where the Spike can actually be planted, rather than assuming an old A Link post-plant setup still covers the same position.
The patch notes include paired before-and-after images for the defender paths and Mid changes. Use them to compare the entrances and cover before rebuilding a route.
