VCT 2027 partners get a Kickoff place—not a free pass to Cups

Riot has named 32 partner organisations across four territories. Two-year renewable deals bring support and a Kickoff berth, but later qualification depends on results.

Riot has selected 32 partner organisations for VCT 2027, but partnership will not reserve a place at every tournament. The teams receive direct entry to Kickoff at the start of the 2027 season. Beyond that, they must earn their way into Cups, Masters and Champions through competitive performance.

The 22 October announcement sets out eight partners in each of the Americas, EMEA, Pacific and China. The distinction is central to the new system: financial support and a relationship with Riot are not the same thing as protected access to the rest of the competitive calendar.

What partnership gives an organisation

Riot says the programme will operate on two-year renewable cycles. Partners receive annual financial support, opportunities to earn additional revenue from in-game digital goods, and incentives linked to their contribution to growing VALORANT esports.

The named digital products include Team and Season Capsules and the Championship bundle. Riot's announcement does not attach an individual dollar amount to a partner's support or promise equal earnings for all 32 organisations.

For the beginning of 2027, there is also a concrete sporting benefit: direct qualification to VCT Kickoff. That gives partners an assured starting point, rather than requiring them to begin with an open qualifier.

Where the guarantee ends

After Kickoff, partners compete alongside teams coming through Open Qualifiers. Riot explicitly describes competitive performance as the only way to earn places at Cups, Masters and Champions.

An organisation being selected as a partner therefore does not establish that it has qualified for a later international event. Equally, a team outside the partnership group is not automatically excluded from the VCT season. The open routes are part of the design, rather than a one-off exception.

For teams preparing for the immediate North American entry process, our 2027 Kickoff qualifier guide covers the separate registration dates and routes. A qualification deadline should be read against the relevant competition's rules, not inferred from this partner announcement.

Why results were not the only selection test

More than 100 teams submitted interest, according to Riot. Organisations first supplied proposals, with a smaller group subsequently interviewed by global and regional esports leads.

The five broad selection criteria covered community growth, fandom and content, sustainable business operations, infrastructure, and competitive success and player development. Riot says results mattered, but places particular emphasis on organisations capable of building fandom and community over the longer term.

That explains why the partner list is not a world ranking. It is Riot's choice of long-term collaborators; the 2027 competitions will still decide who advances on the server.
