VALORANT’s Map Rating does not import your old match history. The feature launched with patch 13.08 on 13 October 2026, giving everyone a fresh starting point for a private, map-by-map view of their play in Competitive and Premier.
It answers a more specific question than your overall rank: how your proficiency on a particular map is changing. Riot expresses that as a 0–500 rating and a C-to-S letter grade. Other players cannot see your Map Rating information.
Four stats feed the grade
According to Riot’s patch notes, Map Rating draws on:
- Overall Win Rate
- Attacker Win Rate
- Defender Win Rate
- Performance Score
Recent matches contribute more to both the rating and its stats than older matches. Improving any of the four can raise the rating, so the grade is not simply a renamed kill count or a lifetime win percentage.
The side split is particularly useful when choosing what to review. If your defender win rate trails your attacker win rate, you have a reason to inspect defensive rounds on that map instead of treating every loss as the same problem. That split does not tell you which decision lost a round; the rounds themselves still supply the detail.
Riot has not published the numeric weighting of those four inputs in the launch notes. There is no supported formula here for turning one extra kill or one win into a guaranteed number of rating points.
Where to find your map information
Map Rating and its supporting information, including your Top Agents, appear in Agent Select, End of Game and Career. The Career navigation bar now includes a route to the feature alongside Rank Legacy and Accolades.
The fresh start matters when comparing maps you have played for years. Your pre-launch experience can help you play them, but those historical matches do not populate this rating. The feature’s stated coverage is Competitive and Premier, not every mode in your match history.
Performance Score already changed before this launch
One input needs a date distinction. The 13.08 notes describe adjustments to Performance Score that Riot says had already gone live during 13.06. They were not all new changes on 13 October.
Those adjustments increased the influence of damage, adjusted kills and adjusted deaths, with the adjusted metrics including first bloods and first deaths. Riot also made Chamber-specific changes to better reflect his utility use. Because Performance Score feeds Map Rating, reading the map grade as aim or raw frag count alone misses part of what it measures.
