Overlord’s Bloodmail gains 10 attack damage in League of Legends patch 26.22, while its missing-health passive loses two percentage points of maximum scaling. Riot is trying to make the item more attractive beyond Sett, rather than simply increasing its strongest low-health bonus.
More AD before the passive ramps up
Bloodmail’s listed attack damage rises from 30 to 40. Retribution changes from 0–12% total AD to 0–10% total AD, with its bonus still based on the user’s missing-health percentage.
The two changes act in different directions. The item supplies more flat attack damage, but the maximum percentage multiplier is smaller. A ten-point increase to the item’s listed stat therefore does not mean exactly ten additional AD in every low-health situation.
At the zero-bonus end of Retribution, the listed stat increase is the full ten AD. At the maximum end, the reduced multiplier offsets part of that increase, with the size of the offset depending on the champion’s total attack damage.
Why Riot is treating Sett differently
Riot singles out Sett because Retribution works especially well with his Haymaker (W). The developer wants Bloodmail to be a worthwhile capstone for more juggernauts, while limiting the extra power it gives its standout user.
