Fortnitemares in Ranked: why the Halloween loot list is not a tournament loadout

Epic brings only part of the Halloween vaults and unvaults into Ranked and Competitive. Here is how Battle Royale, Reload and Horde Rush differ before the event ends on 1 November.

Fortnitemares runs until 1 November 2026, but its headline weapons and powers do not all belong to the same playlist. Epic says Ranked and Competitive receive only a portion of the Halloween vaults and unvaults. The full Battle Royale announcement is therefore not a complete tournament loot list.

That matters when moving between public matches, Ranked and an event. A weapon featured in a Halloween trailer is not, by itself, confirmation that it is available in the competition you are practising for.

Battle Royale: bosses, possession and Overrides

Epic’s Fortnitemares notes describe two different boss rewards. Defeating a Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronic lets you possess it. If its health runs out, there is a short period in which you cannot be eliminated before the shell breaks and you return to the fight.

Freddy Krueger is a separate encounter at Nightmare Neighborhood. Defeating him awards Freddy’s Nightmare, which lets its user teleport into range and slash an opponent. The Bonerattler SMG reveals enemies through walls.

The event also adds Overrides with distinct effects: Spooky Sprinter cloaks a player while sprinting, Berserk increases damage as health falls, and Spooky Prop Hunt provides a Halloween-prop disguise. These are Battle Royale event features; Epic’s competitive note does not individually confirm all of them for Ranked or tournaments.

Reload and Horde Rush have their own changes

Epic listed the refreshed Nitemare Island for 8 October, alongside Stranger Things and Squid Grounds in Reload’s map rotation. Its description highlights Siphon loot that restores health as damage is dealt. This is a Reload update, not a statement that Battle Royale has adopted the same map rotation or healing rules.

Horde Rush follows another structure: squads fight waves of Cube Monsters, buy and upgrade weapons, build around perks and increase the challenge at Cursed Shrines. Defeating the final boss opens Endless Mode. Its weapon upgrades and continuing runs should not be confused with a competitive Battle Royale match.

What Epic actually confirms for competitive play

The official update notes say Ranked and Competitive playlists will receive a portion of the Fortnitemares vaults and unvaults, including new weapons and mobility. They do not provide an item-by-item competitive inclusion table in that section.

For an upcoming cup, check its own in-game event information rather than copying the full Halloween inventory. Sunday’s Arenas Cash Cup, for example, is a separate Solo Arenas competition with its own entry requirements. The Fortnite hub and that event’s guide keep its rules separate from the seasonal Battle Royale changes.
