A fix for being pulled out of ranked 1v1
Rocket League’s v2.78 patch notes list a fix for a party-invite sequence that could pull a player out of a Competitive 1v1 match. The problem occurred when the player accepted an invitation from someone who then joined a Private Match.
That is the most directly competitive change in the official notes dated October 20, 2026. It addresses an interruption to a match already in progress, rather than changing scoring, matchmaking ranks or a car’s handling.
The post’s release-time line contains conflicting dates—October 20 in its Pacific entry and September 22 in its UTC entry. Its exact rollout time is therefore unclear.
Two private-match problems addressed
The update also lists a fix for Error 58 affecting everyone in a Private Match if someone joined while the match was travelling to the next game. For groups playing a sequence of practice games, the relevant point is the transition between matches—not simply the initial lobby connection.
A separate fix concerns another player’s Private Match team and match settings remaining applied after leaving that match. These are distinct problems: one disrupts a lobby during a transition, while the other carries settings beyond the session where they belonged.
The notes also say players entering an Honor Duel in modes with more than two players should no longer be placed into team voice chat by that action.
Replay saving and platform stability
For players reviewing their games, v2.78 lists a fix for saving a replay from Match History failing. It also restores the missing “Add as Epic Friend” option in the PC party bar for players who are not party leader.
On consoles, the notes address an Xbox crash after resuming the game and a Nintendo Switch login problem after losing the network connection.
